More About Joseph
Joseph plays an important role in his family and wants to help support them more financially. To do so, Joseph came up with the idea to partner with a local non-profit called The Crown of Beauty Organization and start his own business.
The Crown of Beauty Organization works with widows and mothers who have been abandoned by their husbands and provides them a safe place to live while they recover and heal. During their stay, they have the opportunity to learn how to sew.
The Crown of Beauty women design and hand make several kinds of accessories including purses, bags, aprons and more. Joseph’s business idea is to purchase The Crown of Beauty’s products, and sell them in stores in his community. Joseph says, “since opening a place to sell my products will be costly due to the rent, tax, electricity bills, I came up with a more pocket friendly way which is to put stands in an already established business/already booming business (i.e. malls and supermarkets) which receives most of my target customers and in exchange I can give them a commission per [item].”
Right now, Joseph is eager to begin running his business, but is in need of a mentor to teach him the skills on how to run a successful business. He is also in need of monetary support to help cover costs for things such as operational expenses (on-going) like rent, utilities or replacement supplies, as well as capital purchases (one time).
Joseph says his future goals for his business is to “have my products on an online site like Jumia and Kilimall. This would be a huge breakthrough as I will be able to target a vast amount of customers. [I would also like to] have my products shipped abroad.”
